Mark what you have is a Polyhedra Database file. Here is some info:
Polyhedra is a real-time database for high performance
object-relational embedded applications in the fields of
telecommunications, industrial automation and control, network management.
Designed for mission-critical applications requiring event-driven,
real-time response to data changes, Polyhedra is
fault tolerant and both resides and executes entirely in main memory
to provide an operational performance far
greater than possible using disk-caching schemes.
Using a client/server architecture, Polyhedra is scalable and may be
configured as a distributed system using any
combination of hardware platforms. Support for standards like TCP/IP,
SQL, and ODBC make even the most
complex globally distributed client-server applications possible.
One of Polyhedra's most interesting and unique features is its ability
to perform active queries that eliminate the
need for database polling. This can be thought of as similar to
Internet Push technology in that Polyhedra can
communicate the results of any data changes, as they occur, without
waiting to be polled by the clients. In
industrial automation and control applications, Polyhedra can notify
the client if the process exceeds specific limits
and act as a real-time historian. Alternatively, active queries allow
Polyhedra to be configured as a very
high-performance Internet server.
