Windows-xp Professional aka: Whistler Beta2
This XP version has a long way to go before
it's ready for the market.
I am running an AMD Athlon 1300MHz overclocked to
1443MHz on a Microstar K7T Turbo (MS6330) motherboard
with 512MB, PC133 Memory using Windows-Me.
I was quite surprised when XP came up with the following list of
incompatibilities. Since it doesn't recognize my Ethernet software.
for my DSL, then I don't need to mess with the new XP.
There has been quite a bit of folks *flaming Win-Me*, but I have
had no problems at all with Me, and was really surprised that
XP is so far out in left field with their compatibility.

Incompatible Hardware

The following hardware may not support Windows Whistler without
additional files. Please see the Microsoft Windows Whistler Hardware
Compatibility List at
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/compatible/ for a list of
compatible hardware. (Some of the following entries might be software
that is registered as hardware.)

    Imaging Device
      Kodak EZ200 DIGITAL CAMERA

    Network adapters
Kingston EtherRx KNE111TX PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter
      Network TeleSystems P.P.P.o.E. Adapter (NTSP3)

WinNT Promise FastTrak100 (tm) Lite Controller
    Universal Serial Bus controllers
      Kodak EZ200 DIGITAL CAMERA(Bulk)
      Kodak EZ200 DIGITAL CAMERA(Composite)

You can continue with the upgrade, but the hardware may not work
until you supply the additional files.

Unknown Devices (Scanners or Digital Cameras)

Setup did not recognize the following scanners or digital cameras.
Before upgrading, check the packaging that came with the device to
see if it supports Windows Whistler, or contact the device
manufacturer. Reinstall each device when Setup is complete, using the
software that came with the device.

    Dual Mode Digital Camera
    Dual Mode Video Camera
    Logitech QuickCam Traveler
    Logitech QuickCam TWAIN
    Philips USB Camera

Software Incompatible with Windows Whistler
-------------------------------------------

Software That Does Not Support Windows Whistler

Setup has found programs on your computer that do not support Windows
Whistler. Contact your software vendors to obtain updates or Windows
Whistler-compatible versions. If you dont update these programs
before you upgrade, the programs will not work.

HP DESKJET 810C SERIES V11.1 TOOLBOX (on the Desktop)
Lotus Organizer 97 (on the Start menu)
    PaperPort OneTouch (in Control Panel)
SiSoft Sandra 2001se Standard (on the Desktop)
    Speech (in Control Panel)
    System Information (in Control Panel)
    Xteq X-Setup (in Control Panel)

Before you upgrade to Windows Whistler, you should remove any
incompatible programs. After the upgrade, uninstall might not work.
Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel can help you uninstall most
programs. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and
then click Add/Remove Programs.

DirectCD 3.x
DirectCD 3.x has a known compatibility issue with this version of
Windows. Drivers installed by this application may cause your
system to become unstable, including problems with
shutdown/restart and the inability to use a DVD drive. Contact
Adaptec for an update that is compatible with this version of
    Windows.

PaperPort 6.x
This version of Visioneer PaperPort requires an update to
function properly with this version of Windows. When creating a
form using FormTyper in PaperPort, you might not be able to save
the form. To work around this: 1. Click the Start button, and
then click Control Panel. 2. Double-click System (located in the
Performance and Maintenance section if you are using the Category
view). 3. On the Advanced tab, click Environment Variables. 4.
Double-click the TEMP variable, and then change the variable name
    to

PowerDVD 2.5
In order to function properly, you may need to upgrade your
version of PowerDVD 2.5. CyberLink Corp. provides the latest
version for download from the following web site:
    http://www.cyberlink.com.tw/english/download/download.asp#upgrade

SiSoft Sandra 2001se Standard
This program may have compatibility issues on this version of
    Windows.

Incompatible Hardware Accessories

The following programs support your computer hardware; however, they
are incompatible with Windows Whistler. To see whether updated
versions of these programs are available, visit your hardware
manufacturer's Web site.

XGstudio Player (on the Start menu)

Software That Might Not Support Windows Whistler

Setup cannot determine if the following programs are compatible with
Windows Whistler. Setup will disable them during the upgrade to
eliminate the risk of problems. Contact the software vendor to obtain
an upgrade pack.

AVG Control Center (a startup program)
Download Accelerator Plus (a startup program)
    Download Accelerator (a startup program)
    OneTouch (a startup program)
RAM Idle SE (a startup program)

General Information
-------------------
This section provides important information that you need to be aware
of before you upgrade.

Because two folders have the same name, Setup will rename them as
follows:

    C:\Documents and Settings -> C:\Documents and Settings.000

Backup Files Found

Protect your backup files by copying them to floppy disks, a
network server, a compressed archive file, or other backup
    mechanism.

Recycle Bin

Setup found 244 files in your Recycle Bin. If you continue
upgrading to Windows Whistler, these files will be deleted.

Software to Reinstall
---------------------

The following programs need to be reinstalled after the upgrade,
because they use different files and settings in Windows Whistler.

    Adaptec Easy CD Creator
    QuickTime 4.0

You should remove the program before upgrading. (Many programs can be
removed using Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel). After
upgrading to Windows Whistler, you can then reinstall the program.

Program Notes
-------------
This section describes issues that might affect some of the programs
you use. Be sure to read this section before you begin the upgrade to
Windows Whistler.

Microsoft Outlook 2000

After Windows 2000 Setup is complete, you have to reinstall
Microsoft Outlook 2000. To do this, start Outlook. If Outlook
2000 is part of your Startup folder, reinstallation will
automatically begin the first time you log on to Windows 2000.
Reinstallation takes a while, and the progress bar restarts
    several times.
