Standard port numbers can be found in this document:
http://www.isi.edu/in-notes/iana/assignments/port-numbers
IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) has port 1680 assigned:
microcom-sbp 1680/tcp microcom-sbp
microcom-sbp 1680/udp microcom-sbp

The Registered Ports are in the range 1024-49151.
The Registered Ports are listed by the IANA and on most systems can be used
by ordinary user processes or programs executed by ordinary users.
Ports are used in the TCP [http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc793.html] to name the
ends of logical connections which carry long term conversations. For the
purpose of providing services to unknown callers, a service contact port is
defined. This list specifies the port used by the server process as its
contact port.
The IANA registers uses of these ports as a convenience to the community. To
the extent possible, these same port assignments are used with the UDP [
http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc768.html]
Microcom as a company used to make modems. In 1997, Compaq purchased the
company and overnight became a modem manufacturer.
This port was for Microcom's Carbon Copy use. In other words, there is
someone from Earthlink trying to connect to your IP address using the
Carbon Copy program. They could be attempting to contact Earthlink but get
your cable/DSL connection instead.

Again, unless you have a serious number of alerts from the same IP address,
to the same port DO NOT worry about the alerts.
Ziff-Davis rates it highly

To see how good a job it does, test your connection
