Word....search your hard drive for normal.dot.....delete any and all copies

Subject: PCWorks: Word help

I'm new to Word (Office 2000). Have been using the handy templates but now
need to do a document on my own and the cursor seems to be nonexistent when
I open a new document. There is a line laying horizontally and when I try to
type the letters stack on top of each other. What on earth do I have set
wrong??? Have never changed defaults that I know of. Thanks for any help!!
