Besides different 'unit numbers', there're other things you may need to
change before you can setup a SCSI unit. First, there're terminators which
may need you to configure if the end device of the SCSI bus had been
changed. Besides, there're many SCSI specifications which I can't remember
at all, such as Wide SCSI, Ultra Wide SCSI, SCSI-2, etc. ( I must have made
some names wrong!). You may need to arrange the devices in a specific order
in order to get the maximum performance.

Of course, you may put CDRW drives and CD-ROM drives on the same IDE bus,
but Nero will issue a warning that the writing speed maybe degraded because
of that. I'm unsure if it is true but it is better to avoid that.

I've installed CDRW drives for some of my friends and I didn't notice any
performance degrade. I think that it is a story long time ago, when the
CD-ROM drives were using some slow PIO mode, the IDE controller were
ancient which can't transfer data at different transfer mode on the same
controller for master and slave devices, and maybe the driver does matter.
