Intrigued by this question I have been searching but haven't really found
anything definite. The closest I've come is the Melissa v*rus did garble
some registry keys. However, Melissa also added this key
HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Office\Melissa?". Assuming you were hit
by this v*rus and that you repaired the damage then maybe this is
left over from the same time.
