These messages are identical to those produced by my mail program (apart
from the ISP), so I am wondering whether it also uses telnet to access my
ISP's pop3 server???
I can configure the program to perform all sorts of mail download and delete
functions, or simply to send mail via smtp or access the net (this is
somewhat primitive, though). Would all this be performed through telnet?
Just curiosity ...
Thanks to Gerry for all the exhaustive and most interesting info re IP
addresses in his posting on August 4. It has given me a clear picture of how
things work. How grateful we must be for all the experts who share their
knowledge with us!
One more question re Telnetting ... do all ISPs support it automatically?
Does one need to get a special telnet address from them?
