<<What do you think happened? Why did I get that Error msg? Why
did it finally go through?>>
Hi Cindy....first of all, the yellow exclamation point simply tells you
there was an error sending your mail....rightclicking on it won't tell you
anything......doubleclicking on it will make it attempt to send
again.....SINGLE LEFT clicking on it will give the details of the
error....more than likely what it would have told you was that it was unable
to connect to your SMTP server (which is your ISP's outgoing mail
server).....usually this is a temporary thing (servers are just computers
and have problems and go down or crash just like our own computers).....if
you have a good ISP, they are usually on top of things and the problem goes
away relatively quickly.....in your case, that sounds like what
happened....if it ever happens again and doesn't go away within an hour or
so, you will have to call your ISP

Subject: PCWorks: Error message in Outlook Express
Hello, Workers!
I use Outlook Express for email. I just typed an email and when I hit the
'send' button, a triangular-shaped yellow symbol with an exclamation mark
popped up and the word "Error" showed up beside it where usually the words
"sending mail" (or similar wording) shows up. I looked in the sent file,
but the email wasn't there because it hadn't been sent. I checked the outbox
and yes, there it was.. Now to figure out why the error and how to fix
it...I tried to right click on the Error symbol, thinking it may tell me
what the error was, but it didn't do anything (it was a thought, anyway!)
Then, I went into Tools/Accounts/Properties and just looked to see if what I
'thought' should be there or filled out was there. Everything appeared to
be ok, so I canceled out of that.
I tried the help files and found where it said to create a log file (for
assisting my ISP in case I have to contact them to troubleshoot.) I then
did a search and I found 14 files, with 3 dated today. (I tried to copy and
paste them in this email, but it didn't work...)
By the time I did this and decided to try emailing this list for help, I
noticed that all of a sudden, the email was being sent.
My questions: What do you think happened? Why did I get that Error msg? Why
did it finally go through? Will I ever understand the mysteries of
computers? the mysteries of life??
Also, in regards to Tools/Accounts/Properties, what settings should be
there? Are there any settings that some of you particularly prefer or
strongly dislike? and Why?
As Always-TIA
Cindy
