Ralph,
One thing to remember..in Windows 98..if you have problems like this, most
of the time they can be fixed by restoring one of the last five registry
backups that windows does, automatically.
Since it is probably too late, for that...I would recommend removing all the
information in Network properties, restart and add them all back in.
You will need to know how they are all configured.
I specify IP addresses on both PC's and one as the gateway.
I had a problem a few days ago..I couldn't even access the Internet on the
second PC. Restoring a registry from two days earlier brought everything
back up.
I believe the problem there, was a CD I received called E-games, I believe.
It is known spyware and the only way I got suspicious, was when Zone Alarm
told me it was trying to access the Internet. I believe this software
screwed up some settings and changed the name of my gateway PC to OEM
computer so the other PC did not recognize it.
Something to be leery of--maybe this is was caused your problem..or a v*rus.
