To one and all on the list, I found out yesterday, Earthlink has made a MAJOR change in their newgroup operations, in regard to how you have to access them. This in turn, is now a MAJOR headache for me, since I basicly no longer can access them, especially at work. They now have instituted a system where you MUST enter Earthlink through one of their lines - if you do not, you no longer can get to the newsgroups. Since I can not get DSL where I live, I got cable modem operations through @home over a year ago. Unfortunately, @home does not offer anywhere near the newsgroups that Earthlink does, including a number of the newsgroups I use all the time. So using the newsgroups of @home does nothing to solve the problem either, since most I can not get to that I need to access. And the problem is MUCH greater at work, since we use a LAN line along with Lotus Notes for email - their is no newsgroups through work, so I was using my Earthlink account to get to the newsgroups for postings to tech groups. That will no longer be possible with their new setup. So my question is: there are a number of newgroup service providers on the market, so can anyone sugguest the one(s) they would recommend to sign up with and use, to avoid the problems I now am going to face???
