PCWorkers!

I have a couple of networked machines at home, both Win98, and use Internet
Connection Sharing, which works a treat.

Here's my question: Are BOTH machines vulnerable when connected to the
Internet, or only the Server through which the connection is made? If I
install Zone Alarm to prevent h*cking instrusions, do I need it on both
PCs, and if so will it work concurrently? Can an attack occur on the machine
which is not actually being used to access a web site, but is still
connected via ICS?

In other words, does the mere fact of being connected to one's ISP, without
accessing any web sites but just using, say, a mail client, constitute a
danger from h*cker attacks? I only use DUN and only log on when I need to,
so I have no permanent connection, but was recently h*cked quite badly.

Thoughts and suggestions please! Thanks
Virginia
