Gerry! As usual your research is quite thorough and was
appreciated. Actually the problem had a simple fix. All I did was change
the extension on the mfc42d.dll to .old and then tested systems like fax
and print and scan and now all is well. Funny I have never had a problem
with a standalone computer running Unix with niggling problems like this.
