Ed: Perhaps the operative phrase here is "...the two Beta versions of Whistler-XP". I would assume that in the final release of Windows XP, most such problems were rectified.
I certainly won't claim that my installation of WinXP was effortless. It initially disliked my video card, sound card, and modem. However, the Windows 2000 drivers for the video and sound cards solved two of the problems, and the modem manufacturer released an XP driver which took care of the modem incompatibility. I'm not a fan system utilities such as Norton's as over the years I've found that they frequently create more problems than they solve. That being the case, the only system level utility that I replaced was the antiv*rus software. After that, everything worked perfectly.
