Click Start, Run, type in regedit and click Ok to launch the registry editor.
Go to this key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar. In the right pane for the Toolbar key, you will notice these two values, if indeed your browser comes from a third party: BrandBitmap and SmBrandBitmap To get rid of these commercial icons, simply right-click each one and click Delete. Exit regedit and you're done. No more commercial branding. If, however, you want to change the icons, rather than remove them, follow these steps: Take note of the data values for BrandBitmap and SmBrandBitmap. These values are the path to where the images are stored on your hard drive. Then simply replace these files with your own. BrandBitmap must be 30 pixels wide and 38 pixels high SmBrandBitmap must be 22 pixels X 22 pixels And that's it. Next time you start IE, the images will be your chosen ones.
