Hello Listers! I really do not know why Rick Booker posted his rancor on
the list with Gerald E. Boyd and all in all with the spirit of the list,
but suffice it to say, if some of you do not know who Gerald E. Boyd is,
you need to know what depth of IT knowledge as well as native common sense
this man has.

I have posted this sentiment on this list before, that Gerry is the "real
deal" His IT knowledge predates the PC, "pong" and modem transmission. He
has written very generous texts that you and I can access gratis about the
Internet and specifically the origins and evolution of Email. He teaches
programming on the college level, C and C++ and was one of the first people
that I knew to be exposed to Broadband transmission on a practical level.

Gerry is a very modest man and if anal retentiveness is a bad quality in IT
then I will eat your keyboards.

For all of you that are casual users and follow the pack of marauding M$,
AOLers and Window Watchers, Gerry is someone to admire and observe not to
mock over questions that EVERYONE on this list should know the answers to
if they just applied themselves a little bit.

In closing I would not have stayed on this list if it was not for Gerry,
Peter, Clint and so many others that have been absent lately for their own
reasons.

I am sorry to say that my participation has diminished because of Spam
Filtering programs I use and "they" are too efficient sometimes and show
some pcworks postings as possible chain letters and get deleted before I
even see them. But I am glad I caught this latest posting about of all
things file associations which all of us should know before even ever
saving a file on your respective disks.

I have enjoyed over the years reading the different posts and diverse
nature of the posters and hope to enjoy the list for many years to come.
