Hi Gerry (and list of course), quite a while back, on another list(HELPNET, ACCMAIL?) you posted a nice explanation about how the Unix file permissions result in the three digit octal notation we see in attached files (beg*n 666 example.zip). I thought I had saved your post, but as chance had it, I was asked yesterday how it works, and I couldn't find it. I guess it was lost in the last great data migration. Do you happen to still have the original post or could you explain it again? :)
