Are the two operating systems on the same drive?  If so then this can be 
problematic.  Bad ram would not account for lost data. It sounds as if you 
have a bad hard drive, and have come across a bad sector or lost clusters 
on the drive.  Is the win2k partition formatted to FAT32 or NTFS, as there 
have been issues with win2k on FAT32 for some users.  What version of IE/OE 
are you running? You know that your favorites, email, and address book are 
in different folders than in Me also? They are found in C:\Documents and 
Settings\Username.
