Thanks Ben, but I just fixed it by enabling "PCI Master Read Caching" in the BIOS. I had also updated the BIOS with a new floppy as I suspected maybe a flaky floppy was contributing to the problem. Plus there is a PCI latency patch I downloaded though it did little, I suspect it would be better suited to the RAID boards.
