Check CMOS BIOS setup. Enter the Power Management menu. You should find some set of global or master settings that control all the other power management function. See below for a sample selection from a Award BIOS screen. ROM PCI/ISA BIOS POWER MANAGEMENT SETUP AWARD SOFTWARE, INC. ACPI Funtion : Enabled Power Management : User Define PM Control by APM : Yes Video Off Method : DPMS Video Off After : NA MODEM Use IRQ : NA Standby Mode : Disabled Suspend Mode : Disabled HDD Power Down : Disabled VGA Active Monitor : Disabled ... You want to leave power management alone (enabled or user defined) but disable the standby/suspend timing parameters so the BIOS does not automatically turn off parts of the system after a period of time.
