ZoneAlarm is only as good as how it is configured. If you give it permission to surf with impunity then it will allow the IP to be revealed by the web server that you are connected to. When you are on the Internet you are alive to the world unless you either block out a particular site or put it in a restricted zone. Just because the web server can read your IP does not mean that you are vulnerable to attack . At least not a successful attack anyway. The only exception is if you have your own web server and hardware firewall and set of routers. Then you can set up a complicated path to the Net and hide from the world. Try Outpost from Agnitum I have dropped ZoneAlarm in favor of it. It allows content as well as site blocking. The FBI is working on a method to interrupt any conversation, read all packet info and finally be totally hidden from the gaze of the Net.
