Hi Jim and all, Original Message: Date: Thu, 25 Apr 2002 14:39:21 +1000 From: "Jim Cladingboel" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: PCWorks: HP 692C won't print in Black
Hi all, A friend owns the above printer which has suddenly refused to print anything using the black cartridge, not even a test page. But it will print using the colour cartridge. A brand new black cartridge was tried, but same result. There is nothing wrong with the cable or pin connections, and no new software has been installed on his very basic W95B PC. Can anyone offer an explanation, or cure, for this problem? Or is the HP due for the scrap heap after just 3.5 years moderate use? TIA for any advice, Jim, in sunny Brisbane, Oz Reply: Wow! You got an inkjet printer to last 3.5 years? Attempt to clean the printer cartridge and surrounding area with a clean rag. Try RAW instead of EMF (or vice-versa) under Spool Settings. Try uninstalling the whole shebang; printer and software. See if you can reinstall with only the drivers, i.e., without additional "helpful" software. If there really is a hardware problem, then most likely the mainboard in the printer is shot. Chuck ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
