You wouldn't have had to do all that if you would have run
the SFC like I mentioned. :-) It's on the win98 CD. A
search for it at the MS site would tell you what it's for, I
can't recall from memory..........I THINK it has something to
do with reading long file names. I think I remember looking
that up when so many *reliable people* were getting those
bogus vir*s hoax emails about it and were deleting it!
<laughs> Don't EVER believe those mass fwd'd emails about
"WARNING WARNING.... DANGER WILL ROBINSON...." about vir*ses.
They are never true!!! Always FIRST go here before you fwd
them along and start deleting files.

There's also a ton of other sites on the net about hoaxes.

Hi All... I was able to restore the file.. Carol sent it to
me. and I
have it back on my computer.. Though I still dont' know quite
what it's
for.. LOL.. But it's back, where it belongs.. Wally, I
wasnt' able to
find it either..

Carol. Thank you.. and also to..Tiffany.. who sent it to me
also..

I guess. my question is this.. I had gotten this- "vir**
warning".. from
a very reliable source.. as I said, yesterday, when I started
this
thread.. My friend and her husband, Both had it on their
computers..and
HE - actually builds computers - restores them, fixes them..
etc.. and
even HE took this as a "real vir** ".. so tha'ts why I
deleted it in the
first place..

Okay, HOW??? do we know.. where do we check.. FIRST.. if we
suspect a
vir**.. .. Is there a reliable source, other than Urban
Legands.. I
mean.

Thanks so much. .. and also, THANKS.. to everyone for their
help. I
really do appreciate it.
