These guidelines are a bit outdated now, however these rules are STILL in
effect today. Each of you agrreed to them when you joined PCWorks. I have
been lax about off topic posting, and most especially "Thank You's" Notes of
thanks should NOT be sent to the list, but to the individual by private
email.

any questions? Comments?, Suggestions?, Replies? Please send them directly
to me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks,
Marlene

  Posting Guidelines

All posts to PCWorks must be sent in Plain Text only! This means absolutely
no html messages will be posted.

Always include enough information about your problem, so that members will
not have to spend valuable time and bandwidth asking questions in order to
help you. Common information may include : Brand name of computer, CPU
speed, amount of RAM, modem type and/or speed, type of video card, etc. It
is often helpful to add the names of any programs you have installed or
uninstalled recently. Always state which Operating System you are using (WIN
3.1, WIN95, WIN98, etc) Always give the version number of programs, such as
Internet Explorer 4.0 or Win95b or Norton Utilities 3.0. Tell us what
actions you have already tried to correct the problem.

Please be sure to include a subject.

Never post a sarcastic remark, use profanity, or ridicule other listmembers.

When replying to a post, please remove extraneous text. This is THE most
often disregarded rule. It's really simple: just cut out all header
information, leaving only the REALLY IMPORTANT information intact. You
should include only enough of the original message so that a person who did
not read the original, will have an idea of what you are talking about.
Removal of the footer {sometimes called a trailer or tag line} when replying
is REQUIRED.

Make sure your signature file is 4 lines or less (including blank lines) No
One wants to scroll down a half page signature file every time you post a
message.

If you see that someone has already answered a question with the same or
NEARLY the same information that you were going to send in, please don't
send in your reply... there are few thing more irritating than 15 or 20
messages saying the same thing. Of course, we realize this will happen when
mails cross each other in transit.

Don't try to answer questions when you are not SURE it is the correct
answer! We do not want to discourage anyone from replying, but if you are a
beginner, for example: don't try to tell someone how to format and
re-install Windows !!! Leave that up to the more experienced users to help
with.

Try not to post one line, or one-word answers. If you need to give a URL,
try to give a little information about what the person will find on that
website. Do not post messages such as "you are right" or "I agree".

Please DO NOT send "thank you" replies to the list. Send them directly to
the person who helped you.

Do not send any sort of attachment to PCWorks. This includes V-cards. Turn
this feature off when posting to the list.

.Never send Virus Warnings or chain letters to PCWorks.

Jokes and humorous postings are no longer allowed, due to the increased
number of members and posts.

Copyrighted Material is NOT allowed to be posted on PCWorks. If you find
interesting or helpful information you would like to share with your fellow
PC Workers, you can cite a few lines, and add a link to the page. NEVER
copy an entire page or article and post it to PC Works.

Finally, before sending in your post, double check that it has everything
you meant to include in it. Please don't make listmembers have to post a
question such as: What version are you using? Have you installed any
programs recently? Try to use common sense and you should be just fine! :).
Thanks for reading, and following our rules. We believe that if they are
followed, our list will only get better. Continual disregard of the rules
will be grounds for membership termination.
