Greetings from Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, NY

I notice some discussion regarding 'sticky labels' on diskettes (meaning
floppies). Interesting that this should come up as I had a similar
problem (which was my fault). I was using labels that one would stick on
a package when mailing (snail mail) and I once pulled the floppy out of
the drive sans label. I thought nothing of it thinking that the label
fell to the floor of the tower, having never seen at that time what a
drive looks like.

Some days later, when I went to use the A-drive, the drive didn't work.
Rebooting, removing the drive from the Device Manager, praying ...
nothing worked. Only thing I could do then was purchase a new floppy
drive (I forget what it cost).

Upon opening the tower, removing the "faulty" A-drive, and replacing it
with the new one, all was fixed ... floppy drive was flopping away. Now
being the kind of person who likes to see what's under the hood, I
"tore" open the old, wayward A-drive and behold ... the label. It was
the label (that never fell to the floor of the tower because the A-drive
is a self-contained unit, which I never knew until then) that was the
culprit.

The real culprit was stupid me who never connected the two events
(losing the label and the drive not functioning. Isn't life great; one
just keeps learning.
