I cannot understand what happened tonight with this PC. Everything was working yesterday and when I went to use it tonight everything was messed up. I run win98.
It almost acted like a v**us but I run Norton latest version and it is completely up to date for everything, Internet security too. Norton says there are no v*ruses on it. I just double checked. So how could it be. Here is a slight explanation of what happened. The computer has been having a problem with standby and not shutting down right. So I have had this problem before and fixed it and everything was fine after that. I did the exact same thing I have done in the past and uninstalled power management manager and restarted. When it restarted it started in ms DOS mode. The video was wrong, and then everything went wrong. It lost all devices did not show the CD ROM drive. Really weird about everything. Then the next thing happened. I decided to reinstall win98 and then found out I have lost the installation number for it. I did have a win98 update also so finally was able to use it and boot back up. How I can be so stupid to lose this number when I know not to do this and have always been so careful. This was the number for the win98 full version of which I had to buy several months back to format this computer with as it was a new hard drive. When win98 finished reinstalling everything and booted back up it seems to be running pretty decent. I know there is still something going on with it and will now have to find that. I have to ask you guys another time if you can help me. I am never able to help anyone out in return because I will always be a newbie it looks like. If you can email me that would be of big help. I believe I have talked with a Clint and Keith on this board before. So if you have time and feel like it, email me. I am not sure what to do or what is happening here. Why are computers such a pain sometimes. Sincerely, Sandy [EMAIL PROTECTED] ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
