Hello listers!

Is it possible to get smart.vxd to run on a motherboard or HDD that does
not support S.M.A.R.T. for actively recognizing an HDD by model, volume,
cylinder numbers and temperature etc.?

If so how would I go about it? I have a Soltek all SCSI onboard
Motherboard with Adaptec AIC7188 and an i440bx chipset. I DO have
accompanying the HDD installation program a SCSI utility that can run
before setup to the BIOS. But if the drive fails then it will never
appear. So are these detection or prediction apps all for IDE drives or
are they equally for SCSI drives as well?

My system config is:

----System Information
Platform: Windows 2000
Machine Type: Intel
System Version: 5.00.2195
Processor: Pentium II or III Model 5, Stepping 1
Physical RAM Installed: 261684 Kb
Eudora: Version 5.1
Mode: Paid Mode
Registration #:
MSHTML Version: 5.00
WININET Version: 5.00

I am currently on Windows 2000 Pro but as a dual boot my boot.ini is
located on the C: drive which is Windows 98SE. I tell you all this so you
have a full picture of what I am talking about. My HDD is a Quantum Atlas
Ultra SCSI-2 9.1 GIGS and is NOW 4 years old, hence the interest in HDD
Failure prediction. :)

Thank you to any or all who respond.
