Greetings PCworkers, I have an NEC Versa 2780MT Notebook. It has a 233MHZ CPU and 96MB Ram. It runs Win98 flawlessly and I don't have any problems with it except that it has a regular cd rom, and I need a DVD rom in it. I am not looking to watch movies, just be able to read data DVD's.
I contacted NEC and they said that a DVD rom was not made for this unit because it was not fast enough, and would need a different video set up. I am hoping one of you hardware Guru's can help me out here. NEC told me that the connectors are different on most brands, pretty much making the components machine specific. I believe this computer with it's present CPU would be able to read data DVD's...(I have a 100MHZ at work that will do that). Anyway can I get suggestions on where to start a search..and would an external unit be an option? I'd RATHER have an internal unit, but I just am really unsure of just what I need to look for. Thank for your input, Marlene ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
