Hello all. I have an IBM 40G that probably has gone bananas (I know that this isn't such a technical term but anyway..).
I tried to scan disk (and the surface) from windows. Just a few minutes before the scan was done (1.680.000 from 1.980.000 chains (?)), the disk started making the same sound (trying to read the same block again and again). After a couple of minutes the PC hung. So I had to reset. After the reset I couldn't boot windows. I scanned the disk with a "drive fitness utility" floppy from IBM site and it reported "Defective disk, Excessive shock". I know this message was a bit pessimistic but since there were some crucial files on the disk, do you know any way to recover the data? Nevertheless, the bsd partition on my disk works perfectly for the moment but I can't acceess the fat32 partition (input/output error). Thanks for your time. -- tnu ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
