Peter! I am going to presume that she is on a dialup connection. Are you sure that she is clicking the save button or hitting "apply"? Also it is possible that her ISP has a problem. Another possibility is that she should repair IE6 would not hurt. I know when it happened to me in the past, I removed the dialup account and reinstalled my internet connection. That usually worked. I also called my ISP and asked for advice. Just a few ideas to try. I have used Windows XP exactly once at a friend's home and it was very similar to all other versions previous. I have OE6 and IT too is not a big deal to set up, so she is doing something wrong or her client is corrupt or her ISP because of security measures on reboot is erasing her settings.
