Norton Utilities 2002.
I have never had a problem before. I've used the same set up, only with a
different DSL and used a hub.
I do not have any other Internet connections installed on the laptop and it still
won't connect using Live update and I can not figure out how to install vir*s
definitions manually.
What is odd, even if I connect the DSL directly to the laptop, it still won't
connect to Symantec site. I guess I could try uninstall and reinstall, but I have
a feeling that won't help.
I still haven't figured out how to get back out of 'express' Live Update mode.
Thank you.
Jeff

Jeff, may want to post what version of NAV you're using. Due
to so many bugs (as of one you hit on) with NAV 2000+, I
still use v 5. With it, and with my DSL & router setup, it
works best when the Live Update connection is set to "find
device automatically" instead of "modem" or "Internet".

I recently switched DSL providers and also got a new Belden
gateway router.
Now Norton on the networked computers will not run Live
update. Keeps saying can
not detect and Internet connection, yet I can connect using
IE on all PC's and can
connect to live update on my main desktop. (WIN98).
Other PC's that won't connect to Live Update are XP and WIN
98 SE.
Both of these say the same.
I even took the main DSL line straight to the laptop and
same thing, no
connection.
Am I missing a setting somewhere?>
I have Norton set to use IE internet connection.
Also, I have checked the 'express' setting for live update
and can not find a way
to change that back to custom for the Live Update setting.
