Jeff, go with NTFS for file table security and I prefer not to use the quick method as it's been a problem on 2 separate systems now. I haven't figured out why it caused problems but both systems faired much better when not formatted quickly.I am in the process of reinstalling the Win XP on my lap top. I deleted the partition WIN XP was on. The screen now says Format in the partition... FAT or NTFS. Which should I choose and should I choose "quick" or not? Thank you. Jeff
