Thank you Carol and Linda ... Problem was both the Explore and Open lines were grayed out.

That causes Open and > Explore to be grayed out when you right click on the Start button. Open > TweakUI and show those drives again and the problem should be solved. Linda > <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Your advice worked like a charm (seems everything's perfect now; until...) And now a question: I know I have many device drivers, each one having the purpose, I think, of accessing the different hardware and make them work. But for "drives" I thought the only drives I have are A-the floppy, B-I never use that, C-the harddrive, D-the slot where I keep my RW-CD (for backups), and E (where I might put another CD for copying purposes). And that was it. What are all those other drives listed in TweakUI? ... The My Computer tab has the entire alphabet from A to Z? The tweaker says to "remove the checkmark from etc" ... so which are needed and which are not needed? Where am I mixed up between "drives" and "drivers"?
