I have an older Pentium II tower that I wanted to use as a file server. When I tried to install a 60 gig ATA hard drive in it, I discovered the PC would not recognize the drive. Since the drive has about 5000 mp3's that I lovingly ripped from my CD collection on it, I don't want to use one of the software partitioning programs to trick the computer into seeing it.
I believe that installing an ATA controller in one of the PCI slots will allow the drive to be recognized by the bios on the controller. Any thoughts on that theory?? ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
