You need to post what CD software you're using if you're talking about a data CD you created. Clear that up and you'll probably get some replies.
If you're talking about a PRE PRESSED CD, and a CDRW drive is NOT involved anywhere (as in the creation of the CD), I'm assuming it's doing this with numerous CD's; and since you're reformatted (and since the CDROM is from Eb@y), it's probably bad. You need to try another CDROM drive to verify this or rule it out, then let us know. You MIGHT want to try to turn off "auto insert notification" and see what happens, and change whether "DMA" is checked or not checked on the drive (both areas) in the device manager. Also maybe change the UDMA settings in the BIOS for it. The drive may be only PIO and not UDMA. Have you tried another IDE cable? -Clint God Bless Us All Clint Hamilton, Owner Want to exchange links with us? http://OrpheusComputing.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alan" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Please I need help with this. Whenever a data CD is inserted CDPlayer starts as an audio CD. The CDRom is shown as an audio drive and will not show data files. I cannot install any programs because of this. The OS is Windows 98se and was a clean install on a formatted HD. I reformatted the drive again and did another install with the same result. I have never had this happen before. Can there be a problem with the CDRom? It was bought second hand from Ebay. The speed is 24X. If anyone can help me with this it would be appreciated. I am at a stand still until it is resolved.
