Greetings from Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, NY, ORIGINAL QUESTION: Why is it that when copying any information from the Windows98 Address Book, one must keep the Address Book open while pasting into any other documents? To put it another way, after copying from the Address Book, if one were to close it, what is on the clipboard disappears ... Is that the way is should be or is it another quirk of my system (this time it has nothing to do with the Registry).
ORIGINAL PROBLEM: Shortcut keys in Start menu stopped working each time I rebooted the computer (even though they were still listed in the shortcuts' property windows. I would have to remove the key designation and type it in again CLINT SAYS (regarding address book) ... You shouldn't need to copy and paste anything from the address book (if it's an address you want to copy). If you can't recall an address and you're opening the addy book to sort of 'refresh your memory'; when you see the address all you have to do is remember the first couple or so letters or numbers and type them into the To: line, OE will remember the rest. Odd. None of the shortcut keys I make work at all! I have all of IE6's updates installed, just where was this patch? At the update site? � Clint ANSWER; I think I have photographic memory; problem is I don't know where to bring it to be developed ;) Sometimes I have to copy information from the "Other" section of a particular addressee. I have no problem as long as I keep the address book window open (not necessarily the particular addressee). As soon as I close the Address Book, the information disappears from the Clipboard. It's something I can't understand although maybe it has to do with other configurations (I�ve seen the term, �customizations� � cute), which I make in my obsessive desire to "get things just right.� Regarding the "IE 6 Service Pack" for all I know the sudden working of the Shortcut Keys might be due to something else (though it happened right after installing it) ... and I know zilch about patches. I'll send you by email the IE 6 Service Pack I used. I'm using Windows98 and had this patch on my RW-CD for some time now ... I'll send it to you. One thing I'll say; I make good use of those shortcut keys. Left hand ring finger and pointer on Ctrl - Alt respectively and right hand automatically goes for the shortcut key (P is for Paint, L is for Lview, comma is for blank screensaver, dot is for address book, N is for Notepad+, I is for ICQ ... sometimes I'll even use the left side of the board: C is for calculator) ... isn't life wonderful!
