Is there a program I can use to find out what something is that is
starting up when the computer starts up. Under msconfig there is a
square and the description area is blank. I have checked under
everything and can find nothing about what this is. It was not there
until the past couple days after going online. Thank you, Sandy
Fire up regedit (Start -- Run -- regedit -- enter key or click OK)
Expand "+" sign on left in front of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE "drill down" to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
If the program starts from the startup folder it is listed here in the "Run" folder
or in the "Run-" folder or in the "RunOnce" folder.

If it is not listed, then just ignore the "blank box" found in MSCONFIG.
