Ok, when you say "document" I don't know if you mean something other than an email. At any rate, if it's an email and you CAN click links in them OUTSIDE of OE, OE not being opened, I would try to change your security settings in OE. Set them to low and see what happens. It's a checkbox next to 'internet zone....less secure, more functional'. Either way, also try and "reset web settings" under 'internet options'. It could also possibly be a file association problem. For that, go to 'folder options' and look at all the entries for the 'blue e' with white background icon (.html, .htm, URL protocol, gopher, shortcut, there's a bunch of the scattered throughout the list) and make sure they are all opened by IE. One of these may help, but of course this still doesn't explain why this would happen all of a sudden.
Since you haven't installed any updates, maybe you should, that may help the problem.....if there are any you haven't installed yet.
