Hmm, I don't show it taking up any PF space or memory at all.
Same on as off.  (BTW, how do you check "resources" in XP?)

before then right click on the MSVDM on the task bar you will get
a menu.
Uncheck Shared Desktops and it will allow you to organize a
cluttered
desktop. So you can have your browser and email on one desktop,
your fav
spreadsheet app in another, some tools in another, and each one
is easy to
see and access.

The only downside to it's use is it might suck up memory though
not much
more if you already have 8 applications continually running
anyways. Plus
XP needs 256 mb to be happy so for most people it is not a
consideration.
