Has anyone tried the Lindows OS. Pro's & Con's would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Marlene
Marlene,
I have not used Lindows but from other users I have seen it is stable and is compatible with MS file types.
Personally I run Suse Linux (pronounced Soo-saa), Suse is the most popular Linux distribution in Europe. In Suse I have the option of running Suse Office Desktop which allows the installation of MS Office, Lotus Notes, etc. a full list of the supported applications is here http://www.codeweavers.com/products/office/supported_applications.php
Suse is less expensive than Lindows, though if you do need to install a Windows piece of software in Suse then you can purchase Suse Office Desktop or you can use WINE from the installation cd's. With Suse you get a lot of documentation and a lot of software, 7 cd's and a dvd with the professional release, or 3 cd's with the personal release. The retail package of Suse Professional, which I highly recommend to anyone interested is very powerful and still very user friendly. It was easy to install at version 6 and is easier now at 8.1.
More information on Suse is here http://www.suse.com/us/private/products/suse_linux/i386/index.html

Which ever way you choose to go, I hope you do enjoy Linux.
