ACxxxx files are usually that garbage and Adobe dumps in your
temp files folder for every pdf you open. Sometimes these can
only be deleted after a restart. If you open them in Notepad you
should be able to see a reference of some kind to a pdf file. If
they are too large for Notepad, then open them in WordPad.

Your scandisk log is not going to be in the temp folder. I can't
recall where it was on '98, but I think it was in root C: folder,
something like C:\scandisk.log, or it may be in the Windows
folder. Could be a hidden file, probably is. (BTW, does anyone
know where this log file is on XP?)

As far as the error windows closing immediately; I had the same
problem on ME and never fixed it. It was still there when I
formatted and went to XP. I thought (and it could be) due to
your PopUp stopper program, but if I recall, that didn't fix them
on mine. Try and disable it anyway. Also, there is an area in
IE options, and I think in the 'advanced' tab that is something
like 'close error dialogs immediately', or 'close script errors
immediately'.... something like that. Try and uncheck that. I
just checked and I don't see that entry in XP under the
'advanced' tab, so on '98 it may or may not be there, or it may
be under the 'security' tab, or under the sub area within the
'security' tab of 'custom Java permissions'.

Hello,
I am having a problem with error windows popping on the screen,
then disappearing.
One example is when I try to open a file with Notepad, I see the
error that the file is too large for notepad...then it goes away,
before I have a chance to choose yes. This does happen with other
Windows error pop-ups.
I found this when trying to open one of many files found under
C:/ titled ~AC2236B7.tmp, B6.tmp...and many more of these.
I am running Win98 on that machine. I know I can delete all
these temps, but didn't know if these problems were related, or
if
those temps were the result of Scan disk errors. These all seem
to be the same size of 2688KB.
Thank you.
