That's one way; go to "run" and type MSCONFIG and uncheck boxes there for
it in the startup tab, then go to the services tab and uncheck boxes there
for it as well. Better yet, run msnsrvcs...(something like that, that's
not it and I can't recall what is was exactly), and get to "Services", then
disable everything for it. For the latter you can also go to admin tools,
then 'services', look for it in that list and disable it. You should also
go to 'add/remove programs' and uninstall it from there.

Sorry for the cross post, but I can't remember where I saw this post a
few weeks back.

Someone had mentioned a method of disabling the Windows Messenger
Service to prevent the pop up windows in WindowsXP and I thought I have
saved it into my tips folder, but now that I need to pass it along to
someone, I cannot find it. I tried searching back through the messages
from the past month, but didn't have any luck.
I believe it involved going to RUN and running something from there to
do this, but like I said, I cannot for the life of me remember what.

I'd really appreciate it if someone could please send me the method if
they can find it.
