My cable modem connection, which is through Comcast in Central New Jersey, has recently been sporatic at best. Sometimes I will have a good connection for days. Other times, like this past weekend, my signal is weak, as indicated by only the top two lights on the cable modem lit solid and the others flashing. Other times all four lights will be green with the activity light flashing, but I cannot access any servers until I unplug (power down) my cable modem router/switch (LinkSys BESFR41) and re-acquire the IP address from Comcast. Then I will have access for 5 to 10 minutes and I will lose the connection and have to recycle the cable router again.
Comcast gives me the same line of BS when I call and makes me go through the same routine of disconnecting everything, etc., etc....... But nothing seems to improve. Any suggestions as to what the real problem might be?? Not enough signal coming to my street??? Old connections at the pole and/or the house???? Or is it just that Comcast sucks and always will????? ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
