Have a Windows XP that a restore was done and it has taken the computer back
to square one.
Has anyone had the problem of reupdating the Windows Updates. I have been
trying to
put the SP-1 back in and have done extensive search and read the
troubleshooting page
suggestions. I have read that now they have a SP1a out. I would like to be
able to update
and get all the 42 patches installed.
I have tried the SP-1 Express shown on the Windows Update page and it
download but
on the install I get this error which prevents all the items listed from
installing.
1) Software Installation:
The software you are installing has not passed the Windows Logo testing
to verify its
compability with Windows XP. This software will not install - Contact
your system Admistrator.
(Now I understand what this is all about when you download from another site
that has not been
approved by Microsoft - but this is coming from the Windows Update
Microsoft site).
2) Service Pak 1 Setup Error
Setup could not verify in the integrity of the file Update.inf. Make
sure the Cryptographic
service is running on this computer.
I have checked the troubleshooting mentioned and this is running on the
computer (2).
See http://tinyurl.com/2zqa - Problem Downloading/Installing software
(non-driver item). Click
on 4th item to see the things to check out for this problem which I have
done.
I have written to the Microsoft support but you know how these things go
there - anyone run into
this and was able to solve the problem? I understand that a Windows XP with
the SP1 can be
bought but I really don't want to reformat and lose all the software that
did come with the computer.
This is on hubby's computer - TIA - Azhodge
