Ah ha...let's not forget the newest technology... Some printers now have a microchip attached to the ink cartridge that tells the printer when the ink gets low. The only way around this is to purchase an OEM cartridge. I think you can still get aftermarkets for these, but the last time I did, it didn't work, because of this chip, I think..wouldn't print color. Now, there is a company that has come out with a device to reprogram these chips. I have one, but have not had a chance to try it, yet. I don't think many people are aware of this, until it is too late. Jeff Dougherty Intrepid Video TV/VCR www.intrepid-video.com www.tech-repair.net

This is simple with 3 color tanks, and most 3 color refills will work. However if you print out photos, you should get *approved* colors so color-matching will work. This is more critical with 4, 5, 6 & 7 color tanks. With those even if you don't print out photos it's best to get a refill that is color matched (made SPECIFICALLY for your printer model #). Just refill until it appears the quality is suffering, then you need to get a new FULL cartridge/print head. There is also just the individual ink tanks which can be replaced instead of refilling the individual ink tanks. It's a bit more of course to replace the tanks. Since I rarely print in color, when I run out of black I just get some black ink and squirt it into the blank ink tank. -Clint God Bless Us All Clint Hamilton, Owner http://OrpheusComputing.com ) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Harold B" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hello again, I just purchased one ink-jet cartridge (black) from Staples (here in Brooklyn, NY) ... receipt says "1-HP 29 black ink" for the price of $29.99 plus tax coming to $32.58. Question: Is $30 the usual price for black ink and can one does better buying it online? And is online buying of ink the way to go? ...
