I have a couple external USB drives which I use to backup and move (from home to work and back) my MP3 collection, my home video AVI files and other large files and folders. Even at USB 2.0 speed, moving 80 gig folders takes a significant amount of time. Most of the time I only need to move new or changed files/folders, not all of them.
In the past I used a DOS program called XXCOPY which worked well to selectively copy files and folders, IF I could remember and get the syntax correct. Giving the program an incorrect argument can result in the copy procedure not being what you wanted and even destroying newer files..... Basically all I want to do is to have Windows XP Pro (which is what is on all the computers involved) copy, without stopping to ask, new files and files that have a newer file date only. Anyone know of a way to have XP accomplish that or of a Windows based utility that will do the job?? .............................. ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
