I just installed Eudora but can not send mail.
Since I am on Verizon for DSL, I have to authenticate emails I send, but can not figure out where to place
my Verizon log in information for authentication.
I'll just state what needs to be filled out. I can't remember what the defaults are/were.
Tools - Options
Getting Started -- needs all fields filled in. My incoming mail server and outgoing SMTP are different. Incoming is via my domain (expita.com) and outgoing is Earthlink (my dialup) even though I have DSL with SBC Yahoo. Confusing to others, not me :>)
Earthlink needs authentication so I don't get the SMTP port 25 nasty messages. That is, "Relaying denied" messages.
Under the tab Tools - Options - Incoming Mail, click on Passwords in Authentication style.
Under the tab Tools - Options - Checking Mail, check the box Save Password. You should now be able to signon and send e-mail and authenticate.
I tried the POP and SMTP addresses for SBC Yahoo DSL but I'm forced to signon to Yahoo prior to use -- too much trouble. Hence, the round-about method I use via my Earthlink dial-up account authentication even though I'm NOT connected by dialup. However, with this method if I need to dial-up, everything still works as is, no need to change anything, so there is method to this madness.
