SpywareGUARD has to be running in the BG and SpywareBLASTER does not. I'm not sure either of them work like AdAware or Spybot because neither of the new ones seem to "scan" anything. At least I could not find any button or anything to click to "scan" your system for spyware. I know one of their readme files actually said to run "something like AdAware" before you did a system snapshot. That snapshot is a great idea (SpywareBlaster) and AdAware nor Spybot have that. This is also good for '98 or XP Home users that don't have the native system restore function.
I think I like SpywareBLASTER better since it's a one time set and forget thing that doesn't have to be running. I'm leaving SpywareGuard running in the BG for a few days to see if it prevents anything. If it does, then I guess that may be memory and system resources well used. Blaster seems to PREVENT you from getting things by using registry tags. GUARD seems to prevent as well, but not by registry tags but by 'active scanning' like an anti-vir*us does. Evidently if you do get infected with spyware or trackware, you still need AdAware and SpyBot to remove them.
