I am running Windows 98SE - so that means after Jan. 16, 2004 I will no
longer be eligible for Windows Updates --- Everything I read on the list says
it is not wise to upgrade Windows XP over the Windows 98. Is this correct?
Would I have to reformat? TIA Charmaine

This is a courtesy reminder of Microsoft's announced support Termination for Windows
98, Windows 98 Second Edition and Windows ME. As of June 30, 2003, Microsoft has
stopped releasing "fixes", security patches or updates to Windows 98 and Windows 98
Second Edition.

On December 31, 2003, Microsoft will TERMINATE ALL PHONE TECHNICAL SUPPORT for
WindowsME. On January 16, 2004, Microsoft will TERMINATE ALL PHONE TECHNICAL SUPPORT
for Windows98 and Windows98SE. After these deadlines you will be without Microsoft
Tech Support for Windows 98, SE or ME. Please note that Microsoft tech support is also
eliminated for developers such as ChiroPulse. After this date only "online self-help",
which included search able and generic tech articles, will be available.

Pulse Software ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDS you migrate from Windows 98/SE/ME 60-days in
advance of the 12/31/2003 deadline. Upgrading these Windows systems to Windows 2000
Professional or Windows XP is the obvious choice, in lieu of purchasing new systems
with Windows XP pre-installed.
