TweakUI doesn't always work for that thanks to yet another "genius" M$ update for '98. When it's installed, it renders that area of TweakUI useless. Sorry I don't recall the update and have no record of it since I no longer use '98. -Clint

Here are two alternative methods (I haven't tried out the first -- but I'm told it works; the second is widely known to work) :: (1) Right-click the Desktop tab and then /Properties/Appearance tabs. Select Item, and scroll for Icon. The default size is 32. Change this to 30 and then click on Apply. This should get rid of the arrows after a reboot. (2) This involves editing the registry, so please be very careful. In the registry (Start-->Run-->regedit), do a search for "IsShortcut" (without the quotes, of course). Ctrl-F will bring up the search dialog box. Delete the reference to IsShortcut. Then, hit F3 to find next. Delete, and find next, and so on, till all references to IsShortcut in the registry are removed. A reboot may or may not be necessary after this to remove the arrows from the desktop icons. Cheers.
