I've been having the following problems, but didn't know I could contribute it to
Norton's update.
1. Adobe Acrobat will not open in IE, just hangs.
2. Norton Auto protect is off and email scanning shows ERROR. I can't enable Auto
protect. Scanned system
and all is OK.

I received this in my mail - I had just noticed this week my computer had
slowed down and was having a hard time getting the menu when I right
clicked the Start button. So I did the below - unchecked it - my brand
new computer is running normal again. Hope you don't mind me sending
this in because I sent to some lists I am on and people were very grateful.

Special Alert For Norton AV Users:

Have you recently updated your Norton Anti-virus?

Have you noticed an odd slow down at certain times? Like when trying to
launch MS Word, right-clicking icons, disk access, - that sort of thing? I
know I did, so I went looking and discovered that Norton had an update
that'll cause a computer to make like it's a 286.

OK, Norton is actually blaming VeriSign, due to slow server problems. Here's
the whole scoop as quoted from Symantec:
